Christ Encountering Worship
Music plays an important and vital role in the worship of God at
Christ United. The Music and Worship Ministry is led by Michael Kemp and Adam Walker and includes a combination of contemporary and traditional
styles in order to create two different types of worship services.
Music is an integral
part of our communication with God. It teaches and helps us retain
scriptures for a lifetime. Hymns, choruses, and new songs provide a
means for us to express our thanks, praise, and love to God.
Through music we hope to offer encouragement, hope, comfort, and
The Bridge service which begins at 10:45am in the Fellowship Hall is the contemporary worship option at Christ United. Every Sunday, you can expect a powerful blend of Biblical teaching, modern praise and worship music, and a casual, friendly environment.
The Traditions service which begins at 10:45am in the sanctuary is designed for those seeking a more formal expression of worship.
It is a powerful, engaging experience through the classic hymns of the
faith and praise music led by choir, orchestra and organ, along with a
dynamic mix of liturgy, creative media, and relevant, Biblical

with people who are just like you, and who desire to become disciples of
Jesus Christ, and want to build quality relationships with others and
importantly, with God. God loves you, and wants you to experience full,
abundant life through Jesus Christ. As part of making disciples of Jesus
Christ who know, love and serve, we endeavor to offer services that
embrace people at
every stage of spiritual discovery and create environments for
life-changing, Christ encountering worship, celebration
and communication of biblical truth.
Music & Worship Ministry - Musical Opportunities
It is our desire to celebrate the diverse musical gifts God has given
each of us. We
encourage people to develop and use their musical gifts in sharing
Christ's message. Our ministry offers training for children, youth and
adults in developing their musical gifts in order to worship and serve
at Christ United.
Singers Senior Adult Choir
The JOY Singers is open to senior adults and meets on scheduled Thursdays throughout the year from 10:00– 11:00am. You
can expect a great hour of music and fellowship followed by outreach
opportunities into our community as we share the JOY of music.
Each Sunday the Sanctuary Choir provides musical leadership
in the Traditions worship service as well as in several seasonal programs
throughout the year. Our
repertoire encompasses a wide variety of styles, including everything from great
works of sacred choral literature to fresh arrangements from today’s top Christian
artists. We invite you to be a
part of this diverse and friendly community of singers, and to share and
develop your musical gifts.
Rehearsals are on Wednesdays from
6:00 – 7:30pm (childcare is provided).
The Sanctuary Orchestra is comprised of a diverse group of
musicians who have a heart to worship the Lord through instrumental music. In addition to providing musical
leadership in the Traditions worship service, the orchestra participates in
special events and seasonal productions throughout the year. The orchestra always encourages new
members and welcomes players from differing backgrounds. Rehearsals are on Thursdays from 6:00-7:30pm
(childcare is provided).
The Bridge Band
The Bridge Band provides musical leadership for The Bridge service and consists of guitars, drums, and vocals. The band is an auditioned group and rehearses on Thursdays
from 6:00–8:00pm (childcare is provided).
The music the band plays consists of everything from what is currently

The Acolytes ministry provides 4th-6th
graders with a meaningful opportunity to be involved and serve in the church as
helpers and attendants in the Traditions Worship service. Acolytes
work closely with the pastors and take part in church services to help people
worship God. The acolytes’ duties
include lighting and extinguishing the altar candles, assisting with the
offering, and other duties as needed during the services.
As a sacrament, we believe Holy Communion is a means of
God's grace. It is not solely a
memorial meal, but is also a time we encounter the Risen Lord through the
presence and power of the Holy Spirit.
Holy Communion is offered the first Sunday of every month in both
services and Communion Servers help by serving the bread and wine (grape juice).
We believe the Bible is God’s word to us – alive and
transforming. We are looking for
readers who are passionate about presenting God’s word in a way that
communicates its life-changing power!
Readers serve periodically in worship services throughout the year as
well as special services during the Lent/Easter and Advent/Christmas seasons.

Media in Worship
Worship through Media has
been a growing science in the last decade or so. The use of visual aids,
lighting, sound and projection has proven to support the message in a way that
resonates today in our fast paced environment. Much like writing and literary
creativity helped support our worship services in years past, media has proven
to do the same for us in the 21st century.
The awesome task of
discovering ways to offer our new technologies to God as a fitting and
appropriate offering of ourselves is a weekly challenge. The coolest part of
the challenge is the fact that no idea is “off the table”. The challenge for the future is to be
open to the ways in which God may be seeking to enable us to do this with
We are always welcomed to
new ideas and technologies for worship. If you have an interest in being part
of a growing ministry of the church, we would love to have you on our Media
Team, or more appropriately, our Media Family. Please contact Zack Mobley at email@example.com or stop by the control booth in between
services on a Sunday morning.
