Daybreak - A Service of Word & Table
Daybreak service happens at 8:30am on Sunday and can best be described as an ancient-future model of worship. It is a return to the universally accepted framework of faith that originated with the apostles (Acts 2:42), was developed by the Church Fathers, and has been handed down by the church in its liturgical and theological traditions. The focus of this service is to encounter Jesus Christ through Word (scripture and preaching) and Table (the Sacrament of Holy Communion). God offers a gracious word and invites us, unworthy as we are, to share in a Holy Meal. God feeds our hungry hearts with the Word of Life and the Bread of Life. In Word and Table, we feed on the Living Word and the Living Bread, Jesus Christ.
What can I expect at this service?
Each Sunday we gather in the Lord's name with prayer, praise, and song. We open the Scriptures through reading, preaching, witnessing, music, and the arts. We respond to this proclamation of God's Word in prayer for the world, acts of commitment and faith, and in the offering of ourselves. The Lord's Table is prepared with the gifts of bread and wine as pastor and people join in the Great Thanksgiving and Lord's Prayer. Bread is broken, wine is poured, and all share in the holy meal. At the conclusion, we are sent forth in ministry to the world, empowered by the Holy Spirit, with God's blessing.
The Bridge - Contemporary Worship Style
Beginning at 10:45am each Sunday, The Bridge service is contemporary in style, we desire for people to encounter and know Jesus in a deep and life-changing way. When people come to worship, we want to experience an enormous amount of truth and an enormous amount of grace. The Bridge is an image that illustrates our desire for everyone to experience life change by crossing over from a life lived without Jesus to a life lived in the grace and truth of Jesus.
What can I expect in this service?
The Bridge service is very informal, yet authentic. When you come, we want you to be yourself. You don't have to have your life together. All are welcome. We believe that everybody matters to Jesus. When you come to worship, you will experience contemporary music, a modern environment that is creative and innovative, teaching that is relevant to your faith and daily life, and authentic people who want to connect with you so that you don't have to live life alone. Holy Communion is celebrated on the first Sunday of each month.
Traditions - Traditional Worship Style
This service begins at 10:45am each Sunday and has been the primary worship service at Christ United for over fifty years. For a majority of that time this service has utilized a blended approach to worship, combining elements from both traditional and modern styles of worship. By valuing the time-honored traditions of the past while incorporating new traditions of today, the Traditions service continues to foster an atmosphere in which people of all generations can gather together to worship Jesus Christ.
What can I expect in this service?
Traditions is a powerful, engaging multi-generational experience in which the worshiping community is invited to encounter Jesus through a dynamic mix of liturgy, creative media, relevant Bible teaching, and uplifting music. Each week the Sanctuary Choir and Orchestra lead the congregation in singing classic hymns of the faith and inspiring praise music. Holy Communion is celebrated on the first Sunday of each month.
