Advent is a time when our hearts are moved by compassion and generosity. This Advent season, we invite you to join us in the spirit of giving through Christ United’s Advent Missions Offering. Your gifts will support two remarkable initiatives, each bringing hope, restoration, and opportunity to those in need. Together, let’s help make an impact in the lives of children and communities through the We Will Go Summer Camp 2025 and the Rice and Beans Appalachia Rebuilding Project in Hickory, North Carolina.
We Will Go Summer Camp 2025: Shaping Young Lives and Building Faith
The We Will Go (WWG) Summer Camp is more than a place for kids to spend their days—it’s a transformative experience, helping them grow in faith, build confidence, and find a supportive community. Last summer, the camp welcomed over 100 children, many of whom come from under-resourced neighborhoods in our community, providing them with enriching activities, mentorship, and, most importantly, a nurturing environment. The total cost per child to attend is $1,500. Our fundraising efforts will make this life-changing experience accessible. Your Advent gift will help sponsor these young campers, covering the costs of meals, supplies, and staffing for a camp that brings together laughter, learning, and spiritual growth. Each dollar given is an investment in young lives, empowering children with faith-filled memories and friendships that last far beyond the summer months.
Rice and Beans Appalachia: Rebuilding and Renewing Lives in North Carolina
In the wake of Hurricane Helene which swept through the southeastern United States with devastating force, communities in Hickory, North Carolina are facing the difficult task of rebuilding their lives. Fred Curry, the founder of Rice And Beans Appalachia, has spearheaded a rebuilding initiative in Hickory, focusing on restoring homes, schools, and vital infrastructure for those impacted by the hurricane’s destruction. This new site will allow volunteer teams—including members of our church community—to participate in ongoing recovery efforts and help families rebuild with dignity and hope. RAB Appalachia offers our church a unique opportunity to take an active role in long-term disaster recovery. Your support of this Advent offering will directly contribute to a center that will serve as a beacon of hope, inviting volunteer teams to lend their skills, time, and compassion to the resilient people of Hickory.
Every dollar donated is a testament to our church’s commitment to embodying Christ’s love and mercy. Please consider giving generously and lifting up these ministries in prayer as we journey together through Advent. Give in person or online at christunitedjxn.org/give
